After the successful localisation of its predecessor "Shanghai", Activision released the German version of Shanghai: 2nd Dynasty in December 1999. The variations of Shanghai, which are all played with Mah Jongg tiles, were further extended: This publication not only contains the meanwhile classic game Shanghai, but also completely new and puzzling variations of Mah Jongg.

The detailed documentation on Mah Jongg required particularly intense research. The far eastern terms had to be made comprehensible for the German players, who at the same time needed to be equipped with the correct and specific expressions that would allow them to play with other Shanghai fans throughout the world.

Over 700 digital "Cookies" are just one of the many additions to the old game included in Shanghai: 2nd Dynasty. They appear whenever a game of Shanghai has been successfully completed; in the adult mode, these cookies are predictions which resemble those found in Chinese cookies. In the kids mode however, you will find short jokes and puns which are suitable for children. Therefore, besides the intensive research regarding the game Mah Jongg and its terminology, we also collected a lot of fun, sayings, jokes, and puns for the German version of this international game.
