First-person shooter

Localisation:
complete

Your team is your weapon.

Star Wars: Republic Commando revolves around the Delta Team: four clone troopers who are sent on break-neck missions that would cause other soldiers to back out.

Their voices and team communications set Effective Media the biggest challenge in this project. Though they are clones and therefore have similar voices, these characters have developed individually rather like twins. The player must be able to hear the team's closeness in every dialogue and every apparently ad-lib comment uttered by these "brothers". At the same time, the dialogues must not appear too monotonous, but provide the necessary variety.

This first person action game contains far more speech than comparable titles, and a large part of the atmosphere is created by the comments the four team members exchange in different situations; you will not be able to master the levels without the odd smile - at the latest when famous quotes from the movies are commented. To quote Delta 62 on the subject of the lightsaber: "An elegant weapon for a more civilized time, eh? Well, guess what? Times have changed!"

April 2005
Video Games Aktuell
"The German synchronisation is among the best we have heard in the past few years."

"The exemplary localisation deserves further praise. The German version lacks none of the wit and quality of the dialogue - and therefore the atmosphere - of the original. I must certainly take my hat off to Lucasarts for this one. They have definitely earned the Sound Award."

"The actors are once again well chosen and make the German version into a harmonious product. Localisation has always been an important element of a Lucasarts game's atmosphere and the long years of experience have paid off. I personally regard this title as practically perfect as far as acoustics go and I really wouldn't know what to suggest in order to make an Xbox game more atmospherically detailed than this."
