Release Date:
February 2005

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords set new challenges for Effective Media. Possibly never before has any game as complex as this been localised in such a short space of time. And the standards set by the prequel were high.

In figures alone, this project exceeds the volume of 10 or more others, totaling approximately 800,000 words of text. More than 75 actors lent their voices to even more characters and recorded roughly 270,000 words of speech. Presumably this project will go down in history as the most lavishly localised product to date.

The goal of outdoing the first part of the saga was fulfilled, as the trade press emphasizes with these words: "The German synchronisation is very good - far better than in the first part."

"Was ist hier los? Wer ist das? Noch ein Jedi? Habt ihr euch heimlich vermehrt, als ich nicht hingesehen habe?"
picture x Bao-Dur:
"Wir stecken noch mittendrin. Der Krieg ist immer noch nicht zu Ende ..."
picture x Kreia:
"Die Macht ist stark in solchen Kreaturen ..."

"Beobachtung: Die Galaxis ist voller Feinde, Meister ..."
Press Notes about
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords
April 2005
PC Games
"Considering the vast amount of text, it is a real blessing that professional actors were engaged for the complex dialogues (...) The translation is also well done (...) + hours of very good voice-overs"
"The sound, on the other hand, is once again wonderful. The opening music from the films and the speech alone are fantastic."
March 2005
Xbox Zone
"This sound experience is rounded off by the excellent voice output. The many dialogues all sound interesting and very varied. The German synchronisation is very good - far better than in the first part. In what can be classed as a mammoth of a project (several thousand voice files had to be re-recorded), the flair of the English version has been expertly transferred to German. (...) Speech: Once more very extensive. Every race speaks differently. Highly suitable (professional) actors were selected."
"Unlike the discreetly outdated optics, the acoustics of the game are again totally captivating. The aliens speaking in their droll languages and the beeping droids really bring the Star Wars world to life. The other voices, which include actors we know well from television, are also worth hearing. The energy that has gone into the localisation of this project is not to be sneered at - it (sadly) isn't every day you come across such a splendid German version of such a huge title."
"+ well-translated texts, good actors (...) localisation: very good"
"Once again, the game's best side proves to be in the acoustics department: All the dialogues were dubbed by professionals, and they are what adds the suitable atmosphere to the game. The German version of the second instalment of the star saga with a difference was translated in its entirety and is brought to life by actors who are in no way inferior to those of the English original. The enormous amount of recorded text (several hours of speech) must have required a small miracle to be performed at the sound studio during the lavish localisation process. It is a pity that the characters are not as well animated as they sound - they lack practically any trace of facial expressions, which sadly hampers slightly the emotions that the actors bring across so well. (...) The fantastic dialogues, all recorded by highly talented professionals, and the atmosphere created by them are powerful arguments (...) excellently spoken dialogues (...) very good German localisation."
