Press quotes from 2005:
20.12.2005
www.playstationportable.de about X-Men: Legends 2 - Rise of Apocalypse:
"The voice acting is excellent (...) our praise goes to the German localisation!"
07.12.2005
www.gamevision.de about X-Men: Legends 2 - Rise of Apocalypse:
"The game has been well translated and the dubbing actors suitably selected, which really breathes life into the game."
05.12.2005
www.gbase.ch about Call of Duty 2: Big Red One:
"The synchronisation is also among the best in video gaming history."
02.12.2005
www.gamesurf.de about Shrek SuperSlam:
"The acoustics are the trump card of the title. Activision has been able to secure nearly all the original actors for the software adaptation. The annoying Donkey, the squeaky Gingerbread Man, the vain Puss und the awkward Ogre are really good fun. Thus, and also thanks to the great scripts, the cutscenes are a proper comedy show - simply brilliant."
01.12.2005
Gamestar about Ultimate Spider-Man:
"However, the well-chosen actors and the spectacular effects do something for the ears. (...) "
December 2005
TOMMI-Jury about Madagascar:
"Jury German award for children's software 2005: The characters are funny, drawn with care and they come up with a lot of funny lines. Some of us laughed so much we could hardly go on playing."
December 2005
PC Action about X-Men: Legends 2 - Rise of Apocalypse:
"Yes, the sound makes up for a lot, not least thanks to the good voice-over actors."
December 2005
N Zone about Ultimate Spider-Man:
"The background music is okay. There's a lot of very good speech."
30.11.2005
www.gamezone.de about Call of Duty 2:
"Of course, we must not forget to praise the game's magnificent sound (Dolby Digital), for a large part of the much-lauded atmosphere is solely due to the authentic weapon sounds, the professional acting of the soldiers and the terribly realistic noise of battle."
29.11.2005
www.gamion.de about The Movies:
"The sound is also very well done. The noises and music are fitting and create a real movie atmosphere. However, the actors are a particular highlight: A fictitious radio station whose presenter doesn't really think much of movie-making entertains the player with wisecracks and even satirical comments on daily news items and the development of the film industry."
24.11.2005
www.justgamers.de about Star Wars Battlefront II:
"Thanks to Pro Logic II, the sound is really atmospheric, which of course is also due to the fact that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has once again been completely translated into German and recorded using highly professional actors. The developers at Pandemic have got it all right."
21.11.2005
www.gamezone.de about Call of Duty 2: Big Red One:
"Of course, the soldiers' realistic movements are solely down to the motion capturing technology, but especially when your comrades are standing in a group nearby and chatting, they're no longer far removed from real actors. This convincing impression is achieved thanks to the excellent localisation. (...) The mood among the young troopers of the "Big Red One" is largely generated only by the excellent sound, which brings it across to the other side of the screen in a believable manner. (...) Fantastic localisation."
17.11.2005
www.gamesmania.de about The Movies:
"Huge praise is due to the entire localisation"
14.11.2005
www.4players.de about The Movies:
"After the first hour, The Movies was a real platinum candidate in my eyes. The harmonious optics, the elaborate design and the finely animated characters make this game a pleasure to watch. The sound along with its atmospheric melodies and other acoustics, including the German voice output, saw to the rest (...) Voice-overs: very good"
08.11.2005
www.pcaction.de about Call of Duty 2:
"Thanks to the sound, the first few minutes of play in Call of Duty 2 are an overwhelming experience. Shouted commands, fearful screams and the witty speech of the allies and enemies around you resound from the speakers more authentically and forcefully than in any other game."
05.11.2005
www.4players.de about Call of Duty 2:
"(...) + good localisation (...) impressively designed, even more impressively accompanied acoustically (...) the sound is once again phenomenal (...) Voice-overs: very good"
27.10.2005
www.4players.de about Ultimate Spider-Man:
"However, the developers have certainly created a lot of humour, especially in the boss sequences. As in the comics, Spidey can't resist offending his enemies - this is a source of constant enjoyment in the German version as well (...) Voice-overs: very good"
26.10.2005
www.planetds.de about Ultimate Spider-Man:
"For a long time, no handheld game's sound has generated as much atmosphere as that of Ultimate Spider-Man. Many a developer should consider following this example. The voice-overs in the game are excellent. Players will hear Spider-Man's witty words and get to know Venom's split personality best by experiencing the story as it is presented here. Our praise goes to the game's presentation and thereby to the developers."
20.10.2005
www.gameswelt.de about Ultimate Spider-Man:
"+ very good German voice-overs"
October 2005
Das Offizielle Xbox-Magazin about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory:
"One highlight, however, is the German speech along with the correct German subtitles."
15.09.2005
www.playstationportable.de about Spider-Man 2:
"The speech samples of the German voices from the movie are certainly essential to this title. When super villain XY comes up with some sinister and really evil phrase, Spider-Man retorts as usual with a humorous quip."
13.09.2005
www.playstationportable.de about Untold Legends
"The good German translation is commendable (...)"
04.09.2005
www.4players.de about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory:
"high quality localisation (...) voice-overs: very good"
September 2005
Das Offizielle Xbox-Magazin about Madagascar:
"We also greatly enjoyed the excellent dubbing and the varied tasks."
16.08.2005
www.gamecaptain.de about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory:
"The sound is probably the game's strongest point. The voice-over actors in particular (including the German voice of Johnny Depp) act convincingly from start to finish. The background music is based on the movie soundtrack and creates the appropriate atmosphere."
August 2005
PlayStation2 - Das offizielle Magazin about Madagascar:
"The German voice-overs are really first class - especially thanks to the professional dubbing actors of the American stars."
August 2005
N-Zone about Madagascar:
"The crazy characters alone will make you smile constantly and make for a lot of fun in the numerous cinematic sequences, for the humour of the movie has been brought across well, not least thanks to the good German voice-overs. "
08.07.2005
www.gamecaptain.de about Madagascar:
"The in-game videos are absolutely worth seeing, which is down to the well-translated humour, the comic-like character design and not least the excellent German actors."
05.07.2005
www.demonews.de about Madagascar:
"Acoustically, on the other hand, I really liked Madagascar. The German actors are totally convincing and professional. Marty, for example, has some really funny lines, the dialogue is wacky and well worth hearing. This goes to prove that licence games can sound good if you choose the right voice-over actors. (...) Madagascar may not be brilliant in the optics department, but that weakness is amply made up for by the professional German actors."
03.07.2005
www.4players.de about Madagascar:
"And in one respect, at least, the beginning of Madagascar is able to score: the spirit of the movie. It is not, however, captured by the single snippet of film, but mainly thanks to the German voice-over actors."
01.06.2005
www.pcdaily.de about Stronghold 2:
"Along with the beautiful graphics, the creators provide successful sound output including contemporary music and the best possible synchronisation. (...) + good synchronisation"
10.05.2005
www.xboxfront.de about Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith:
"(...) a German 'in-game' synchronisation that includes the original dubbing actors from the movies make the game appear as in indisputable high-class title from the point of the player's hearing organ as well."
10.05.2005
www.gamigo.de about Stronghold 2:
"The sound is also well done, it shines with good music and great voice-overs."
04.05.2005
www.br-online.de about Stronghold 2:
"(...) The story is good, the graphics are varied and the sound is excellent. Well-known voice over actors tell tales of medieval intrigues and decadent noblemen."
May 2005
PC Powerplay about Stronghold 2:
"In the sound department, however, everything fits: good, atmospheric music and professional unit speech - that's as it should be."
29.04.2005
www.4players.de about Stronghold 2:
"Stronghold 2 thrilled me acoustically (...) The good news: The narrators' voices and the villagers' comments are so true to life and so distinctive that they could be used for an audio play. When "Philipp Bocksbeutler" grumbles about taxes or "Frederik Bierheber" complains about the monotonous grub, gruffly amusing atmosphere is created. (...) very good German actors; localisation: very good"
April 2005
PC Games about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords:
"Considering the vast amount of text, it is a real blessing that professional actors were engaged for the complex dialogues (...) The translation is also well done (...) + hours of very good voice-overs"
April 2005
Video Games Aktuell about Star Wars: Republic Commando:
"The German synchronisation is among the best we have heard in the past few years."
19.03.2005
www.4players.de about Mercenaries
"The game is accompanied by sound effects that will shake your subwoofer as well as professional German voices: All the actors know what they are doing and give the characters a cool profile thanks to their witty comments - the dialogues with navigator Fiona are particularly enjoyable. (...) localisation: very good"
16.03.2005
www.gameradio.de about Star Wars: Republic Commando:
"The exemplary localisation deserves further praise. The German version lacks none of the wit and quality of the dialogue - and therefore the atmosphere - of the original. I must certainly take my hat off to Lucasarts for this one. They have definitely earned the Sound Award."
16.03.2005
www.gamigo.de about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords:
"The sound, on the other hand, is once again wonderful. The opening music from the films and the speech alone are fantastic."
13.03.2005
www.xboxfront.de about Star Wars: Republic Commando:
"The actors are once again well chosen and make the German version into a harmonious product. Localisation has always been an important element of a Lucasarts game's atmosphere and the long years of experience have paid off. I personally regard this title as practically perfect as far as acoustics go and I really wouldn't know what to suggest in order to make an Xbox game more atmospherically detailed than this."
12.03.2005
www.4players.de about Star Wars: Republic Commando:
"+ very good localisation"
09.03.2005
www.gamezone.de about Star Wars: Republic Commando:
"Positive: good German localisation"
07.03.2005
www.gamecaptain.de about Mercenaries
"One thing that we have positively noted is that every single snippet of speech in the game was carefully translated into German. Few publishers make such an effort these days."
04.03.2005
www.gamesweb.com about Mercenaries
"The entirely German speech is very well done."
March 2005
Xbox Zone about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords:
"This sound experience is rounded off by the excellent voice output. The many dialogues all sound interesting and very varied. The German synchronisation is very good - far better than in the first part. In what can be classed as a mammoth of a project (several thousand voice files had to be re-recorded), the flair of the English version has been expertly transferred to German. (...) Speech: Once more very extensive. Every race speaks differently. Highly suitable (professional) actors were selected."
22.02.2005
www.gamecaptain.de about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords:
"Unlike the discreetly outdated optics, the acoustics of the game are again totally captivating. The aliens speaking in their droll languages and the beeping droids really bring the Star Wars world to life. The other voices, which include actors we know well from television, are also worth hearing. The energy that has gone into the localisation of this project is not to be sneered at - it (sadly) isn't every day you come across such a splendid German version of such a huge title."
21.02.2005
www.gamezone.de about Mercenaries
"The synchronising actors are just as good as the explosion and combat sounds. The allied general, by the way, is none other than Sam Fischer's superior, whose sonorous voice is perfect for this character."
14.02.2005
www.4players.de about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords:
"+ well-translated texts, good actors (...) localisation: very good"
10.02.2005
www.gamezone.de about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords:
"Once again, the game's best side proves to be in the acoustics department: All the dialogues were dubbed by professionals, and they are what adds the suitable atmosphere to the game. The German version of the second instalment of the star saga with a difference was translated in its entirety and is brought to life by actors who are in no way inferior to those of the English original. The enormous amount of recorded text (several hours of speech) must have required a small miracle to be performed at the sound studio during the lavish localisation process. It is a pity that the characters are not as well animated as they sound - they lack practically any trace of facial expressions, which sadly hampers slightly the emotions that the actors bring across so well. (...) The fantastic dialogues, all recorded by highly talented professionals, and the atmosphere created by them are powerful arguments (...) excellently spoken dialogues (...) very good German localisation."
06.02.2005
www.4players.de about Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events:
"top-class localisation"
30.01.2005
www.gamecaptain.de about Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events:
"The story's atmosphere is convincingly reproduced not least owing to the humorous texts recited by professional actors, and the lovable charm of the eccentric scenario comes across very well in the game."
05.01.2005
www.gamezone.de about Call of Duty: Finest Hour
"Brilliant sound (...) good German VOs."
03.01.2005
www.gamecaptain.de about Call of Duty: Finest Hour
"www.gamecaptain.de"

PC Action about Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines:
"However, the texts were translated very well by the localisation pros at Effective Media (Jedi Outcast, etc.)."
