"Back then, most of the recruits to the Alliance were farmboys and dreamers, like Skywalker. They had spirit, but it wasn't always enough."

With these words, Commander Col Serra begins his tale - the tale of a unit without whose efforts the conflict between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire under the control of the tyrannical Emperor Palpatine might have taken a very different turn; a unit about which even Archivist Tionne of the Jedi Archives on Coruscant has discovered very little - the Renegade Squadron.

Every Star Wars fan knows how Luke Skywalker bravely faced the Dark Lord of the Sith, and how Anakin Skywalker finally rediscovered the good in himself; or how Han Solo and Leia Organa defeated the Stormtroopers on the forest moon of Endor with the furry Ewoks' help. What you don't know is that the success of these actions is largely owed to a band of hard boiled smugglers, pirates, gunfighters and other unpopular individuals, whose names will never go down in the annals of history.

The new instalment of the Star Wars Battlefront series, developed exclusively for PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), lets you experience the history of the Rebellion from a new angle. As a member of Col Serra's unit, you will fight in the background, without hope of glory or recognition, to ensure the triumph of good in the galaxy.
