Set 20 years after the events of its predecessor, XCOM 2 throws players into a dark vision of the future where mankind has lost the war against the invaders and Earth has fallen under the control of the aliens and their ADVENT forces. XCOM has gone underground, working to establish a global resistance through guerrilla warfare in hopes of reconquering their home planet.

All texts and dialogues in the game were fully translated into German, and Effective Media worked with several dubbing actors whose voices are well-known through various blockbuster movie, TV, and video game productions, including Erik Schäffler (the voice of Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 games), Antje von der Ahe (known as the German voice of Katherine Heigl), and Manfred Erdmann (the voice of B. A. Baracus in the TV programme ”The A-Team”).
